We have had beehives in our garden since 2012. Behind this contemplative activity, which is closely linked to the cycle of nature, are large numbers. In summer, there are up to 40,000 bees in a hive. For one jar of honey, the bees fly twice around the world. 80,000 kilometers spread over many pairs of wings is an impressive achievement. We celebrate this every year and give our honey a unique name. A photo taken on our journey around the world becomes the label. Sometimes we refer to the weather (hot summer = sun salutation), sometimes to local events (bank robbers in the garden = robber’s garden), sometimes to global events (pandemic = attractant). Sometimes it is a simple thank you to the bees in Japanese (Arigato), sometimes a reference to a well-known personality (100th birthday of Joseph Beuyss = honey pump). This year, in view of the depressing world situation, we chose the greatest of all emotions – love. People Need Love is the first single by the pop band Abba in 1972. It is a simple song with a simple wish for peace and harmony, which unfortunately never became a catchy tune.
